That's right, y'all...#EMMA is official! The Trademark (TM) #EMMA or the acronym for, "Everything (in) My Mind Awaits," is going to change lives!!! "Remember #EMMA" is part of my writing work promoting positive energy. That might seem odd, a woman who has seen such hardship helping others to feel better, but it's more about empowerment. When people are empowered, they're no longer vulnerable. And, when humans aren't vulnerable, they are limitless.
My life isn't infinite, but my words will be. I've even translated silence into immortal speech, lol. And though I lost my baby girl in 2014, no one will ever forget her name either. If I had my way, #EMMA would be on books, signs, street corners, and screens of all shapes and sizes.
Why "Remember #EMMA"???
Because, when you are facing some of your worst demons, if you remember #EMMA, you'll never forget that your mind is the gateway to overcoming every and any obstacle. I want people to say "#EMMA" to themselves at least once every hour. Use it as a mantra. Use it as an answer to your haters. Use it every second of every day if you have to, until it finally sticks.
My daughter, Emma, was going to #RepairTheWorld. Her Destiny was to heal, to open doors to unconditional love. And, thanks to #EMMA, it still will be.
When we lose people we love, they never really leave us. We can grieve as much as we need to--forever, if we must--but that doesn't mean we can't also take EVERY NEGATIVE thrown our way and turn it into MAGIC. #EMMA was magic. Is magic. A miracle. The kind of miracle that is only possible through the Divine. That's why she lives on. My lovely girl, Emma-Fair....
Two nights ago, I felt this unexpected wave of peace following several days of what can only be described as heart-wrenching loss. Made me think of the goddess Akhilandeshwari, or "She Who Is Never Not Broken." In Hindu, the name literally means "Supreme Goddess" (eshwari) "who rules" (and) "the Universe" (Akilan/m). In other words, if you want to succeed over everything that can break you, you must become broken by everything...it is only then that you rule your Universe.
Perseverance makes one formidable. At some point, that strength separates you from people with less substance--usually a painful process. But when bones break, they mend even stronger. Muscle builds only after being torn. I am "She Who Is Never Not Broken" because being broken was necessary in order to truly help others heal.
Don't be afraid of being broken. Be afraid of staying safe. If you aren't taking risks, you aren't really living a full life. Bad things find you simply because you exist. Hiding from pain will not save you. Because, you're not here to be safe. You're here to learn. That doesn't mean you're here to also suffer. It means not allowing suffering to disrupt your inner peace.
Remember #EMMA, and you'll get everything you deserve. In this lifetime, and the next....
My curly hair. Straight. I like it! Don't you??? Know what else I like? Holding hands with someone special, my fingers naturally entangling in his, as if we've held hands for a lifetime...though, we haven't.
Romance is still alive and well in the world! There are still gentlemen who walk you to your car door, opening it for you when they do. Men who pull out your chair at a restaurant. People who love you for you. Share themselves openly and honestly. Smile when they see you. And, let you know how beautiful you are without saying a word.
I sat across from the bluest eyes I've ever seen the other night, talking philosophy, politics, sociology, psychology, love, sex, loss, and the winding roads ahead. It was a great reunion. Unexpected. But sometimes, life surprises you with a walk in the park instead of the road less traveled.
My otherwise heavy heart was made lighter with the return of one of my favorite souls. He traveled hundreds of miles, moving into a house only seven from mine. Why? Because he wanted to. Amazing, isn't it???
Seems like that kind of courage is missing from the world these days. People are too afraid of change. But at the same time, they're equally afraid of the status quo.
Being a woman in this world--including the world of Entertainment--is no easy feat. There's a lot of users out there. Takers. That's why it was such a pleasure to sit across from a man who had solutions to my problems instead of the opposite. And, I didn't even have to pay him! Nor did he expect sex. Have I mentioned that he's one of my favorite souls???
It is incredible...what happens when we allow ourselves to consider the possibilities in life. When you start looking, you may find that there are as many possibilities as there are stars in the night sky.
I'll be in Salem with friends and family to celebrate #Halloween. We've collected donations for Cape Abilities, too. Great organization that helps the disabled. And, next month, I'll be posting video of my visit to Children's Restoration Network. All to celebrate our one-year anniversary! Hard to believe a year has passed already. Between new friends and partners, we hope our efforts in 2017 become the foundation of our #EMMA initiative to #RepairTheWorld.
Just got a "yes" knock to that....
Let the season of giving begin!!!
Rebecca aka "The Doc"
It's official!!! We're on our way to selling out seats for the Salem benefit for Cape Abilities on 10/29. If you want to be in the most haunted town in America on Halloween weekend for this one-of-a-kind charity event for family and friends, you'll have to reserve your seat soon. Please go to the #SoulArrow store and click on the picture of "The Witch House" to make your donation--thank you!
We have not one single spot remaining for the Atlanta event!!! With each event, #SoulArrow is footing the bill; we're working with talent like John Brightman from Ghost Adventures, featured in the promotional video below, because John is donating his time, energy, effort, and money, too. We're using small businesses in both Atlanta and Boston to support the local communities as well as the great causes benefitting from the events. If you think all that is easy, think again! But it's worth it. We'll show you how and why as we take you to both Children's Restoration Network and Cape Abilities so you can see what these great organizations do for both homeless children and the disabled. You can find future videos on our CEO Rebecca Housel's YouTube page. You can become a subscriber for free and get the inside track on what our company is doing to #RepairTheWorld.
We'll be bringing you more #GoodTimes4GoodCauses in 2017. Please stay tuned! And, thank you to everyone in Atlanta and Boston for your support!!!
You all have a great fall season! #SoulArrow will see you in October!!!
charity Hey y'all! Our #SoulArrow family is gearing up for our very first event in Atlanta. We're going to use our collective talents to #RepairTheWorld. Our #EMMA division, named after my daughter, is an acronym for "Everything in My Mind Awaits." I created it to honor the memory of my own #Emma. So it's very fitting that our first event was approved by the Mayor's Office in Atlanta, where #Emma's life began. It's also very fitting that our chosen charity is the Children's Restoration Network (CRN), helping thousands of homeless kids find support and stability in order to succeed.
Do you know why successful people are successful??? Because they believe they can be. But it's not as easy as it sounds. When you are born with social disadvantages, you are born into a world where, every day, it's like walking through cement. When you don't have disadvantages, you can't imagine how others do. You think it's because of things like skin color, gender, sexuality...but it ain't. It's because people lack imagination. I wasn't born into privilege. No one paid for my college...in fact, I'm still dealing with loans and likely will be for the rest of my life. I had to literally mortgage my life in order to educate, in order to become a home owner, in order to start things like #SoulArrow. My family could have helped me. But they abandoned me as a teen, right when I needed them the most. I was even homeless at one point. And, could easily be again. Anyone can be without a support system in place. That's why CRN is such an important cause.
Our haunted history adventure at Oakland Cemetery isn't about gimmicks. We'll be taking you through the oldest cemetery in Atlanta, and, frankly, one of the oldest in the United States. It's steeped in Civil War history as well as American history. Famous athletes, authors, politicians, and other celebrities are buried there. Not to mention both Confederate and Union soldiers. The Cemetery represents all faiths and all people...a true symbol of the Patriotic spirit.
Built on a ridge overlooking downtown, the timing of our tour puts us squarely at the right place and time to witness a breath-taking sunset with quite a unique view. Oakland is also a public garden. Set in the Magnolia District, there are acres upon acres to explore of local flora and fauna. There really is no place like it in America. Now, you have a chance to experience ALL Oakland has to offer on this special tour for a really great cause.
Together, we can make our October 8th event to benefit homeless kids an AMAZING day! We can't do it without your help though. Space is limited. No day-of donations. So please check out the #SoulArrowStore today while you can! Scroll over the image of the Oakland Cemetery sign and you can reserve your spot with your donation today!
We have a really great event planned so we hope to see you on October 8th with friends and family. It's for all-ages. Parking is free. We'll be kicking off the haunted tour at 3pm, so recommend everyone get to the registration table by 2:30pm that day so you don't miss a second of what promises to be a true adventure!
And, don't worry if you live far away from Atlanta and can't travel to see us on the 8th. We've got charity events scheduled in major cities all across America in 2017. In 2016, that includes a very special Halloween benefit with John Brightman on October 29th in Salem, Massachusetts!
You ready??? Me, too!
Be safe now! Sending you heaps of #PositiveEnergy!!!
Rebecca aka "The Doc"
Hey Y'all!!!! It has been a crazy-busy spring. Time for us to catch up. Missed you! We have some updates for our #HauntedAmerica fans:
When you check out the #SoulArrow Store, you'll see a few new additions. It tar-schedule conflicts continue through summer, including mine. So, #HauntedAmerica kicks off this fall. Dates will be available in July.
I'm turning 45 this summer (I know, hard to believe...no Botox either!). In light of my miraculous survival, I'm finally traveling to a place I've wanted to experience for literal decades. Life is short, even when it feels long. We have to feed our souls while we still can. None of us have an unlimited punch pass. I'm no exception. At 25 years from my first diagnosis, I'm one of the longest-living high grade brain cancer patients in the United States. Every day is precious to me as a result. A gift. It's the same for each of you, too. Don't wait to live your dreams, no matter what obstacles block your path. We all get stalled--I'm no exception there either--but we can't let a speed bump (or five) ruin the whole trip. Because, it'll be over before you know it. Trust me on that.
I was texting with Patrick Doyle tonight (had to share Robert Kirkman's latest, Outcast; it takes TV Horror to a new level). Patrick celebrated his birthday earlier this month, too. We're both real excited to launch #HauntedAmerica, especially after Google Analytics showed me that 1,660 people viewed the #SoulArrow Store in the last 30 days. 1,660 people!!! We had dates for Boston and Atlanta but had to reschedule both so the gorgeous and talented, Kristen Luman, could attend the Cannes Film Festival. You can see some of Kristen's glamorous trip on #SoulArrow's Facebook page, as well as Twitter. Or, check Kristen's Instagram for pics from Cannes and much more! Patrick's Instagram hints at his future TV projects...some of which are SO secret, I don't even know. And the beautiful, intelligent and amazingly spiritual Molly O'Connolly just relaunched her website:
Please check out Molly's site when you get a chance--thank you kindly. We all appreciate your continued support and can't wait to meet you in the near future on our #HauntedAmerica tour. Our #SoulArrow family is supportive of each other, too. We'll help one another whenever possible. You'll get to see more of that in a fun new promo video I'm putting together, and I guarantee, you're gonna love it.
All of us will be LIVE this summer as guests on podcasts and radio shows across the country. Keep watch on our Facebook page for updates. We may also be starting our own podcast...but I just can't say when exactly, lol. As CEO, there's more to running this ship than even I knew. Which is why I'd like to welcome my newest #SoulArrow family member, Jeff. Jeff is helping me in a bunch of ways. If you want to ask questions about #HauntedAmerica, you can drop Jeff an email anytime: Jeff@SoulArrowEntertainment.com
Another new Trademark is in the works...my third! I'm also working on a number of book projects. All of this means my BIG show-tour had to be put off until 2017. Not enough time to pull it together for fall. Which is just fine. I'm building relationships with national tour-sponsors like Goza Tequila in Atlanta and Honest Tea in Maryland. I honestly drink Honest Tea every day. And Goza Tequila is 100% blue agave, and one of the best tequilas I've ever tasted. And of course, my gorgeous girl, Yuliya, the genius behind Anestasia Vodka, has been traveling all over the globe to bring her amazing libation to the world. We hope #SoulArrow can help her bring it to every corner of the US, too. The bottle alone is a work of art. Another female-owned company, Casa Dragones, makes small-batch tequila one bottle at a time. I haven't even started on the cigar companies I'm talking to...yeah, once I finish healing, there'll be no stopping this train. From the sounds of it, it'll be one heck of a party, too!
We all send each of you positive energy and prayers every day. We appreciate your prayers, too. One of my friends on Twitter, a guy you want to talk to if visiting Minneapolis, surprised me with a gift card to Fandango to take my nephews to see the new Apocalypse movie. Three of my nephews tragically lost their dad three years ago; his name was Jim. Jim was a veteran and a police officer. His entire life was dedicated to protecting and serving others. Jim was also my friend of 20 years. He LOVED comic books. As y'all know, so do I. It's how I'm celebrating Memorial Day this year--taking Jim's boys to see a movie he'd take them to see if he were here to do so.
So, things are insane yet, somehow, it feels like everything is moving in slow motion...BUT every day, I heal a little more. And every day, #SoulArrow gets a little closer to launching tours, careers, books, and a host of other things we know will blow you away the moment we can tell you about it. We don't mean to be coy now...it's just how the Entertainment business works. Non-disclosure statements are standard in 2016. You can't even be a part of an official conversation without signing a ton of paperwork. Everything is a secret...until it isn't.
Please check back again soon. I'm negotiating locations and dates right now for #HauntedAmerica. We LOVE hearing from you all, so feel free to drop us a line anytime: EMMA @SoulArrowEntertainment.com
Talk soon...stay safe!
Rebecca aka "The Doc"
Hello, E.M.M.A. #HauntedAmerica fans!
Dates are coming soon, we promise. Schedule conflicts are moving Boston to June 2016 and Atlanta to September 2016. I'm hammering out details this week. We've also gotten requests to come to cities like Austin, Portland and outside of DC. As soon as I post dates for #ATL and #BOS, I'll start working on other cities for the 2016-2017 schedule.
Please check out the updated #SoulArrow Store page. Exclusive opportunities were added for each #SoulArrowStar, including getting hypnotized by Kristen Luman! I'm going to sign up for readings with Molly and a session with Kristen myself. And yes, even though I'm #SoulArrow's Founder, I'm a paying customer, just like everyone else. Hypnosis might be the only thing that can reset my brain after all the crazy events of 2015, which included an arrow attack on my home in Atlanta, the very event that inspired our company name.
The ticket price of our events is an all-inclusive, all-day pass to Q&A's, panels, a haunted history tour with the stars, a meet-and-greet including lunch, commemorative event tag, photograph with the #SoulArrowStar of your choice, and, an autographed event poster. You don't have to spend another dime for the rest of the day unless you want to, and, you get to hang out with some really great people. Kristen, Molly and Patrick are like family; I only work with people who put out #PositiveEnergy. Life is too short to work with anyone else. If you surround yourself with good people, good things happen. When you don't, well, let's just say arrows will fly. But negative energy is really just a springboard for the positive if you look at it the right way. I turned that Predator Hunter arrow left on my doorstep last year into diamonds and gold. I wear it proudly around my neck, thanks to Beverly Hills jeweler-to-the-stars, Anne Sisteron. You can see for yourself when you meet me on the #HauntedAmerica Tour!
School groups of all ages are encouraged to join us for #HauntedAmerica. We do have limited space, but can accommodate larger school and student groups because education is important to all of us and we want to give back to children of all ages. I spent 20 years teaching college students and writing books to educate people. Patrick Doyle is an author who also educates; both Patrick and I write book series for kids. Kristen is a hypno-therapist. Molly is an expert in intellectual property law; she's also a terrific photographer. We are all educated people who value things like art, history and culture--sharing our collective knowledge in those areas is really the main focus of our tour. That, and, giving back to the communities we visit.
Though we're only in town for a day, we would love to offer ourselves for a few hours to hospitals, animal shelters, and other local charities. You can use the Contact button on our Home page or the Contact page to get in touch. You can also email us at EMMA@soularrowentertainment.com. We'll also be donating a portion of our proceeds to a local charity in each city we visit. Details are on the #SoulArrow Store page.
If you want E.M.M.A. #HauntedAmerica to come to a city near you, and support a particular charity, give me a holler!
And, just a reminder, the acronym E.M.M.A. is for the little girl I lost two weeks before arrows were used to attack my home. Her name meant, "Everything (in) My Mind Awaits." I held on to that when I couldn't hold on to her. Giving back to the communities we visit is an E.M.M.A. #IconTour initiative with the ambitious goal of raising close to a quarter of a million dollars for charities all across America in the coming years. The losses and pain I've endured in the last year or so will turn into blessings thanks to E.M.M.A., and, YOU. With every ticket purchased, you are helping to make the world a better place. We're all connected. And, by working together, we can create positive energy and positive change--and, have a ton of fun while doing so.
What do you say? Are y'all with me??? Let's learn, have fun, make new friends, and give back all at the same time.
We're better together than apart....
Until next time!
Rebecca aka "The Doc"
Hey Y'all! I hope you've had a great start to your New Year. We at Soul Arrow are kickin' ass and takin' names!!! Don't blink...you'll definitely miss something. You'll find our two new promotional videos below. One is for our small, exclusive #HauntedAmerica tours with #SoulArrow stars like Patrick Doyle, Kristen Luman and Molly O'Connolly--all from your favorite Syfy #paranormal television shows. The other is for the larger pop culture icon tours. Both are going to give back to the communities we visit BIG TIME.
#EMMA will kick off #HauntedAmerica in Boston and Atlanta--my home cities--this spring. Tickets are on sale RIGHT NOW! There will be ONLY 50 tickets sold to each event, so, if you want to have lots of one-on-one time with your favorite #paranormal personalities, better buy early. Everyone gets a free picture with their favorite #SoulArrowStar with the price of your ticket, along with an amazing unique experience you won't find anywhere else! Talk about bragging rights! And though I can't make the official announcement yet, Patrick Doyle will begin filming a NEW SHOW for Destination America, as well as a new season of Behind the Screams with cohost and fellow #SoulArrowStar, Kristen Luman. Yeah, you don't want to miss this...just check out our #SoulArrow Store! We make it easy; we even take most major credit cards.
While you're at the new #SoulArrow Store, don't forget to purchase the very limited private readings with one of my favorite people on the planet, Syfy's Miss Molly O'Connolly from Killer Contact. Molly is a gifted aura-reader and empathy. She did a reading for me in October and it was a big turning point in something I'd been struggling with for almost a year at that time.
Like always, we'll donate a portion of proceeds to local charitable organizations. In Atlanta, I work with the Children's Restoration Network, helping homeless kids in the city with things like food, clothing, shelter, and school supplies. In Boston, donations will go to Cape Abilities, helping disabled folks learn new skills, become independent, and find jobs.
#EMMA's BIG tour will bring another unique pop culture experience to audiences of 3,000-5,000 people. I'm known for bringing out the human side of the celebrities I interview. J. August Richards of Joss Whedon's Angel and Agents of Shield, broke out into tears on stage, and I joined him. As did a number of the audience members. But before long, I had us laughing again. And by the time we finished, all 800 of us felt like close friends. That's my gift. I want to share it with you. And, every ticket purchased will share the wealth of goodness in each city we visit. A sold-out house will guarantee $10,000 to a special local charity in every city. While there, we pledge to use as many local small businesses as possible; nearly 70% of monies spent with a small business goes back to the community it's in. I'll also feature as many local talents as possible. It's all about #PositiveEnergy at #SoulArrow. The big tour kicks off this summer--fingers crossed--and tickets will go on sale in June.
My next blog entry will talk about our newest clients! I can't wait to introduce you to them!!! Until next time, y'all be good, ya hear???
Rebecca aka "The Doc"
Hey, y'all!!! Very happy to announce E. M. M. A.!!! Named after my daughter, the new division of #SoulArrow will bring pop culture and paranormal audiences live experiences with their favorite stars beginning in 2016. Emma was my baby girl, but her name was actually an acronym for "Everything (in) My Mind Awaits." I was 42 when I started the fertility journey and shortly after I turned 43, Emma's spark sparked! It was thrilling to feel her start kicking on November 26th, and utterly heartbreaking when I began losing her on December 11th. By December 12th, she was gone.
Many more heartbreaks would follow that one, and something shocking preceded Emma's loss, too. But just having her inside me was a miracle. Feeling her heart beat...unforgettable. No matter what, I'm always her mother. And I try to hold myself to that standard. If she lived, grew up and found herself where I was a year ago, what would I want her to do???
My advice to her would be to grieve as much as she needed, but in the moments in between tears, I'd want her to live. And when she was ready, take her pain and turn it into joy. No one can give you closure that you can't provide yourself. If you don't like how your story ended, it's time to write a new book! That's what I'm doing with #SoulArrow and the brand-new E. M. M. A. #Icon Tours.
When I lost Emma, it was one of the saddest things I'd ever experienced. No one really acknowledged her. Or, her loss. As a writer, Emma has now been the star of more than one essay. And since I lost her, I have met some very supportive friends who have shared their stories of loss, making me feel less alone. But now, E. M. M. A. will be all over posters, billboards, giant silver screens, tickets, websites...EVERYONE will know her name. And, her story. Emma will never be marginalized again.
Neither will I.
Because of Emma, her namesake will take on new meaning. My business model is one that I'd have taught my daughter as she grew: To give back to the people and communities who support you. To leave as small of a footprint as possible while making the biggest positive impact. To be self-aware, self-responsible. Ethical earning may sound like some New Age fad, but it just means doing the right thing. When you help yourself, you can better serve others.
I dreamt of Emma a good eight months before she became reality. And when she did, I felt very strongly that my grounded little bull was destined to be a healer. I knew she'd make the world better. Now, with the help of the
E. M. M. A. #Icon Tour, she will.
No one can hold you down or keep you prisoner. We do that to ourselves. It's okay to let yourself fall into a rut, once in a while. Because, life makes us tired and we just need to take a step back--which is not the same as disappearing and shirking your responsibilities. There is a BIG difference between being victimized and being a victim. So get your bearings and persevere! It's what Emma would want. And, I'm not about to let her down.
I have faith that Emma will be here again one day in the not-so-distant future, and when she arrives, I have great stories to tell her. In the meantime, please check out our new E. M. M. A. Tours page. And, if you haven't seen it yet, go to #SoulArrow's Facebook page for the most up-to-date info on our #SoulArrow Stars recent appearances, upcoming events, and guest spots on radio shows and podcasts. Speaking of which...
...#SoulArrow Star Molly O'Connolly is appearing 12/4-6 at Mineral Wells Paracon! Buy your tickets now!!!
Until next time, be good y'all....
Dr. Rebecca Housel
Hey there! This is Dr. Rebecca Housel. And I'm not just the Founder of Soul Arrow, I'm a client...like the hair club for men, lol. Do you remember that commercial? I sure do. I'm a walking, talking pop culture encyclopedia. Probably how I earned the title, The #PopCultureProfessor. And yes, I am a real professor. I have been standing in a classroom since 1994. I'm also an editor and author with 11 books and over 200 articles to my name. So far. Most people know me for my work in the Entertainment Industry; first, as a comedian for Nick's Comedy Stop, and then, for my sexy interviews with Hollywood icons at #ComicCons across America.
Everybody always wants to know if I really lived through an arrow attack. And the answer is 100% yes. The police investigation is on-going. There are multiple suspects involved. But I love the South, and even though born in Boston, Georgia is home. It's where my heart is. In the mountains just Northwest of Atlanta. I chose to use "arrow" in the company name, as well as in the title of a forthcoming novel, because using the thing meant to oppress me as a symbol of empowerment is the message I want to send to everyone out there who has been unfairly persecuted...simply for existing. My only crime was being a loyal friend. I'm not angry though; just makes me want to spread joy all the more. And with Soul Arrow Entertainment, I'll be able to do just that.
Our business plan is simple: Wherever we go, we want to create jobs, utilize local businesses and talent, and give back to each community we visit by feeding its creative soul. Making money is something we all need to do to live. But giving back to the communities we serve is just as important, if not more so. You see, there's one thing I know having lived the life I've been given, and that's gratitude. I'm grateful every damn day I open my eyes. Cancer has been my companion since I was 20 years old. It changed my life. But no matter what life throws my way, I have an attitude for gratitude, and that's made all the difference.
So y'all should know right up front, we at Soul Arrow have serious soul. And, direction. We don't believe in limits. Or, social boxes. You get to live in a box when you die....that's no way to live then, is it???
My team is from all over the country, and all over the globe. And we can't wait to visit a city near you!
If you'd like to see an event or celebrity come to your town, just give me a holler using the contact page. And be sure to check back right here to read up on any news and events we have coming up.
Thank you to all of my many supporters over the last year. Y'all have kept me motivated, inspired, safe, and loved. And I'm going to keep my promises. It's kind of what I do.
Thanks for letting Soul Arrow guide you! Until next time...y'all be good!
Rebecca aka "DocHousel"
Soul Arrow Entertainment is proud to offer a blog featuring creative soul-driven talent in the Entertainment Industry, as well as updates on client-events and production projects. Thanks for letting Soul Arrow guide you!
